Chinese New Year Euphoria in Indonesia

The Chinese Lunar New Year is the most important festival for all Chinese citizens both  in their hometown or those residing in other countries. The Chinese New Year occurs on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month of the Chinese Calender.  In 2018, the Chinese New Year begins on February 16 also the symbol of this year is dog.

Chinese New Year Tradition
The Chinese New Year is the most important festival on the Chinese Calender. During this time, the business life should be stopped first. The aims to make the chinese people can be more focus in praying also can be interpreted from the Chinese New Year itself. Home and family were the main focus of it. It is a time for reunited with their relatives by visiting their homes. Before the time, their cleaned up their homes to welcome the Chinese New Year. Then, they put up many decorations that characterize the Chinese New Year. For examples the red posters with poetic verses on it to their doors, the red lanterns, and red envelopes are also not forget to put on the orange tree.
In the evening, many people are set off firecrackers, hoping to get ride of any bad luck and bring the good luck. Actually, there are still many rites that carried out during this period times were meant to bring good  luck to the family, household and long life. In addition , on the the New Year’s Eve is must do dinner with all family members.

The Euphoria
The Chinese New Year is about two weeks away, but in Indonesia the festivity atmosphere is already strongly felt, not only in Jakarta but also in others countries. Two weeks before the time of, many several malls and shoping centers are present many other unique items which is matched for the Chinese New Year. For examples, cookies, clothes, cakes, red envelope, etc. Not only that, they also offering a variety of discounts on their selected items. The euphoria is also felt in many places such as banks, clinics, and restaurant. They participated in celebrating the Chinese New Year by putting red lanterns above the ceiling and putting off the sakura tree with the red envelope in their office.

Bwee Gee Festival
On the other hand, the euphoria is also felt in Kudus on Sunday, January 1st 2018. Hundreds of Tri Dharma peoples from 23 pagoda in Indonesia enliven the Bwee Gee carnival. The Bwee Gee itself is a part of the Chinese New Year in 2018. The Bwee Gee carnival was able to attrack hundreds of Kudus residents who have been waiting before that festival be held.
This  carnival is a form of the gratitude to the God of Earth (Ho tik Tjing Sien) who has been keeping and maintaining the universe and provide the abundant sustenance throughout this year. On that event, each pagoda carrying a stretcher with a statue of God paraded around the protocol street in Kudus.
“I hope this year would be more safe and having a good life” Chatarina said, one of the Chinese people around there.”
Therefore, every year, Tri Dharma peoples hold Bwee Gee festival as an expression of gratitude to the God of Earth.
