Someone who is addicted to drugs have high possibility to experience such mental health issues. In clinical terms, mental issues that are caused by drugs, classified in encoded interruptions (F10) according to PPDGJ (Guide to the Classification and Diagnosis of Mental Disorders in Indonesia.) The codes from F10 up until F19 are codes that is classified for other psychotropic substances.

These can happen to an individual since the substances contained in drugs are chemicals that cause interfere with systemic functioning and brain nerve impulses.

This happened to Iin (34) who lives with her mother (Eey) in Cengkareng, Kalideres, West Jakarta. She has been living with depression and has a problem to control her emotion for ten years, after she divorce with her husband and losing custody of her daughter.

“She’s a hardworking and lovely person since childhood. However, she’s starting to be a drug addict after the divorce.” Said Eey

It is exacerbated by the difficult circumstances that she had to face at that time. She went out looking for a job to continue her life.

“She got a job and a pretty good position, even though she’s still consuming drugs.” Said the mother.
However, it didn’t last long, that is the beginning of a phase where she’s start behaving like she’s not herself.

“She got into a fight with her boss and her coworkers which resulted in her dismissal from the position. And we decided to take her to the psychiatrist.” Said Eey.

According to National Narcotics Agency in Indonesia (BNN), drug addicts are threatened with severe mental disorder or schizophrenia, when an individual already attacked, almost certainly cannot be cured.

This is also justified by the facts, that Lin is still a lonely soul who’s desperate of her past and her tendency for the uncontrollable emotion.

“She’s been living like this for the past ten years. Even her daughter already grown up now. She also has been in a mental hospital in Grogol years ago, but she begged to come back to her home. I can’t see her like that, it’s just so sad, so I took her back to live with us, her family. But of course, the psychiatrist advocate me to make sure that she still consume the medicine that has been given by the hospital.” Said Eey

She also experienced an abnormal fear, one of the symptoms that happen to a drug addict. According to one of the family's confession, she once thought the stuffed pig on her room looks like something creepy. In fact, it’s just a cute stuffed pig we all know in general.

The mother also added that she often hallucinates, laughing like there’s something funny to laugh about, even though she’s just sitting, stunned, and nobody’s around.
